Sponge Blasting

An innovative commercial and industrial blasting technology. This dry, low dust process requires minimal containment, reduces downtime and offers a wide range of surface profiles. Reusable Sponge media contain differect sizes and grades of abrasive (or none) for use on surfaces ranging from the toughest to the most sensitive. This system offers fast, dry, clean, safe and flexible industrial surface preparation at a total job cost ofteb than traditional grit (garnet) blasting.

Grit Blasting

Abrasive grit blasting is a surface treatment process widely used in a variety of different industries wih many diverse purposes. Abrasive blasting is the process by which an abrasive media is accelerated through a blasting nozzle by means of compressed air. The abrasive used varies based on the surface treatment required. Common abrasives used include:

  • Steel shot
  • Steel grit
  • Glass bead
  • Crushed glass
  • Silicon carbide
  • Plastic
  • Walnut shell
  • Corn cob
  • Baking soda
  • Ceramic grit
  • Copper slag

Media selection is a crucial decision in the engineering of abrasive blasting processes. The different media types have different hardness, shape, and density and each is available in a wide range of paritcle sizes to give the desired surface profile finish prior to paint application.

UHP – Hydro Blasting

Uses for Ultra-High Pressure water blasting include, tank cleaning, hull cleaning, marine growth removal, concrete preparation, concrete removal, paint removal, rust removal, offshore maintenace, gypsum removal, grease removal, decontamination and simply returning surfaces to bright metal.

Drill Pipe Cleaning

ESPRAT carries a range of mobile cleaning equipment dedicated to tubular goods. We are able to carry out both wet and dry cleaning. Our diesel powered mobile UHP machines can be transported anywhere so are ideal for even the remotest locations. Our unique dry cleaning machines, which have been designed in-house eliminate the environmental concerns associated with wet blasting and achieve a finish that has only ever been associated with fixed cleaning machines, having the ability to return surfaces to bare metal. All drill pipe cleaning machinery is operated by our trained and competent personnel. Our team will advise on the benefits of each method of preparation in relation to the specific work scopes.

Engineering Maintenance Support
